HTC hasn’t exactly been known for delivering software updates on a timely fashion, but a leaked Android 4.3 firmware for the HTC One – complete with all the Sense 5 customization – suggests that the company may be looking to make amends for its past missteps.
The firmware has been released as a custom ROM by popular HTC developer LlabTooFer, who will release the original untouched firmware on August 28 at 10 a.m. GMT. The “Maximus HD 12″ ROM is based on the unreleased firmware version 3.09.401.1, and there are a few noticeable changes according to user reports.
Launcher performance and animations seem to have improved, users can now use their own music for video highlights, Sense will sync picture changes to the beat of the track, a few sound tweaks have been added to settings, and a new animation plays out when the phone is charging when off. Inherent Android 4.3 features are included as well, such as OpenGL 3.0 support and always-on Wi-Fi location scanning, and we’ll probably see more stuff in the final update.
